English Classes Perform Romeo and Juliet
For this project, students worked in groups of 3 or 4 to create a modernized script and production of Romeo and Juliet. Their modern version of the text was be set in modern times and employed modern English; however, the plotline remained aligned with William Shakespeare’s original version of Romeo and Juliet. Together, groups created a typed script in which they incorporated unit literary terms and vocabulary. Finally, groups blocked and performed their act and scene live for parents, administrators, and peers.
