Georgia HOSA Fall Leadership Conference 2018

AHS Principal For a Day!

Dr. Kersey hosts Gwinnett Technical College Director of Academic Affairs, Dr. Cicily P. Mapp, for Fulton County Schools’ Principal for a Day program. Dr. Cicily was able to attend both a School Governance Council meeting as well as a PTSA Executive Board meeting. She also helped work on the budget, monitor the hallways as well as process some discipline referrals with students. Thank you Dr. Cicily for serving as AHS’ Principal for a Day.

US History Students Study Western Expansion

On Friday, U.S. History classes throughout the day were broken up based on need and given either a remediation assignment or an enrichment assignment.  For the enrichment assignment, students were given a breakout.edu kit based on the Westward Expansion of the United States.  There were three kits being used at during any given period to keep group sizes smaller.  Students were racing against the other groups to finish first.  All students were engaged throughout the day! 

Latina Girls Meet Weekly in Media Center

Every week, the AHS Latina Club has a speaker come in to discuss different issues.

Chinese Field Trip!

Chinese class students went to Atlanta Chinatown Mall and Chinese/Taiwan Culture Center on November 1st. It was a great experience of learning, exploring and applying Chinese in real life.

Mr. Lacy's AMDM students create fun games to play and demonstrate probability!

Spanish Students do Team Building!

Activities like "the human knot” and the "human swing” where students were “swung” back and forth between friends with their eyes closed were done. Spanish was used throughout the activities. This allows students to be totally immersed in the language and have lots of fun at the same time.
