AHS Winter Guard Competes in Regionals

This past Saturday our AHS winter guard travelled to Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina, to compete in the Winter Guard International Mid-Atlantic Regional. Competitors at this show were from all over the southeast.

Our JV team’s show is called “Going Home” and is about the beautiful story of Peter Pan and Wendy. The JV team had a great performance and placed 9th in their round against varsity teams from other schools. Our AHS Varsity winter guard’s show, entitled “Coretta and Jackie,” is a heartfelt tribute to Coretta Scott King and Jaqueline Kennedy. The 14 young ladies on the team performed with great emotion and earned 3rd place the preliminary round which advanced them to finals. In the final round our team’s tear jerking performance wowed the audience and judges which earned them 3rd place finish overall. This performance now has our varsity team ranked 9th in the nation. This competition was aired internationally and viewed by numerous spectators. During this season our team has received rave reviews from critics, judges, and other professionals all over the country. The varsity team is now preparing for state championships and the team will travel to World Championships during spring break. If you would like to see our teams in an exhibition performance, join us Wednesday, March 27 at 5:30pm here at in the AHS gym for our “Family and Friends” performance. It is free of charge.
