Raiders get rowdy with a lunchtime Pep rally before the second playoff game

 Principal Kersey has lunch with staff members from the building once a month in her Principal's Luncheon.
The Principal of the Day program aims to improve the view of public schools in the eyes of community leaders, by allowing them to spend a day with a high school principal.

North Fulton Community Charities picks up over 1000 items from AHS Student Council Food Drive



North Fulton Community Charities was able to pick up over 1000 items from AHS. Mrs. Cawthon's third period class won the donation competition with a total of 440 cans.

AHS teacher Kathy Jackson is set to receive her PhD from UGA in December


After five years at UGA, Kathy Jackson has finally finished her PhD!
Her degree a PhD in Art with Emphasis in Art Education. Kathy will graduate December 19th at the UGA Coliseum.  Her dissertation is entitled “Fire in the Foothills: A Collective Portrait of Three Northeast Georgia Folk Potters”. It is a qualitative study with a constructivist paradigm using portraiture and narrative inquiry as my methodology. Portraiture is much like an ethnography blended with an expressive novel. The manuscript will hopefully be made into a book soon

Alpha Speech scores 6 more state Bids!


This past weekend at Carrollton High, the Alpha Speech Team scored six more state bids, bringing their total to 19.  Christina Nguyen was the ultimate champ winning both Humorous Interpretation and Duo Interpretation along with partner Suma Yellamraju.  In Dramatic Interp, Nalah Hill was 2nd and Deja Holmes 4th.  In Humorous Interp, Grace Palmer placed second, followed by Kelly Lumpkin, 4th, and Conner Kocks, 6th.  Duo partners Sarah Curtis and Alex Atchison placed second, Kelly Lumpkin and Tate Rehklau were 3rd, and Anders Nelson and Karthik Ramaswami, 6th.  Maya Nnaeto was 3rd in Impromptu. Tate Rehklau finished 2ns in Prose and Poetry and Morgan Shields was 4th in Original Oratory.

AHS basketball signing day for Teja Finley and Devontae Cacok

AHS students Teja Finley and Devontae Cacok signed to their respective universities today. Teja signed to Columbus State and Devontae signed to UNC Wilmington. Both signed for basketball.

AHS hosts annual Art Portfolio Day




On November 7th Alpharetta High School’s Visual Arts Department hosted the North Fulton Portfolio Day.  It was an event that enabled art students from across the county to showcase their art portfolios to some of the highest ranked art schools from around the country.   AHS invited all the high schools in the county to attend, with Alpharetta, Roswell, Milton, Northview, Chattahoochee, and Tri-Cities taking advantage of the event for their students.  Some of the colleges present were SCAD, Rhode Island School of Design, University of Georgia, Georgia State, Pratt, College of Creative Studies, Creative Circus, Full Sail University, School of the Art Institute of Chicago and many more.
Alpharetta High School Visual Arts Department created and hosted the event for 4 years, opening it to the entire county for the first time this year.  Members of the National Art Honor Society help organize and run the day to make it a great experience for college representatives and students alike.  The students present their body of artwork to the colleges for critique and review with hopes of admission to the college and possible college scholarships.  In years past students have earned scholarships as a result of this event.

AHS football team advances after 34 to 14 win against North Forsyth



The march to the Dome begins! The Region 6A champion Raider Varsity Football team needs your support as they begin playoff action at home against Cherokee. Please come out,  fill the stands,  and raise your voice  to let the opposing team know we are Raider Nation strong! Since this is a playoff game, we must buy a ticket for this game. The cost is only $8, so be sure to purchase your ticket(s) at lunch to avoid a long line at the ticket window. Faculty, let's support our team and show the players and coaches that we are with them all the way to the Georgia Dome!

AHS Marching Raider Band concludes its 2014 competitive season


The Alpharetta High School Marching Raider Band concluded its 2014 competitive season at the Old South Marching Festival with 17 other bands from Georgia and Tennessee. The band earned an impressive 3rd in class final placement. The band placed 3rd in music, 3rd in percussion, and 2nd in color guard. Band directors Mike Walsh and Ira Jenkins are very proud of the accomplishments of the Marching Raider band this year at all of their competitions.
