Raiders do well at Wingfoot despite brutal conditions in Cartersville

The Raiders XC travelled to Cartersville for the extremely competitive ATC Wingfoot meet. With most of the top teams in the state from all classes there, the Raiders finished 13th in both the boys and girls championship races. There were 72 teams in total. The varsity boys continued to run well with Robert Chappell again leading the way finishing 27th overall, just 6 seconds off his best time on a challenging course. Jason Song ran his best race of the season finishing second for the Raiders. Sean Rager, Will Ashe and Patrick Leitner were close behind Jason and ran well. Sean Lada was 6th for AHS and was just 2 seconds off his best time ever. The varsity girls had a strong showing this week. With the # 2 girls team in the nation from NY at the meet, Kenedy Thorne ran well and finished 36th overall. Sarah Chappell was next, followed closely by Courtney Stuart. Alicia Johnson was 4th for AHS and had her best race of the season. Lamis Al-Wazani rounded out the scorers. As the day went on the temperatures rose dramatically which made it tough for the JV and Open kids but they all survived the heat and ran well. The Boys JV was lead by Arat Joanico, Varun Kasibhatla, and Kevin Lugardo. The Girls JV was lead by Lauren Nash, Madison Tigert, and MacKenzie Mazer. In the Open Division the boys top finishers were Michael Tilaka, Josh Roach, and Reed Perriah. The girls top finishers were Jennifer Leitner, Riley Heath, and Anusha Aiyar.
